If you encounter the message below when launching BRAIN, it’s possible that WebGL isn’t enabled on your browser.
What is WebGL?
WebGL is a tool that enables web developers to create visually engaging and interactive websites that use 3D and 2D graphics. It’s currently implemented in most browsers, but, since it’s quite recent, this technology remains relatively unknown to most people.
How do I activate WebGL on my browser?
Chrome
- Step 1: enter "about:settings" in the Chrome address bar. On the left side, look for "System". Ensure the option "Use hardware acceleration when available" is switched on.
- Step 2: enter "about:flags" in the Chrome address bar. In "Search flags", look for the option "Override software rendering list" and activate it.
- Step 3: relaunch Chrome for any changes to take effect.

Firefox
- Step 1: enter "about:preferences" in the Firefox address bar. Go to "General". Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "Performance". Ensure the option "Use recommended performance settings" is switched on.
- Step 2: enter "about:config" in the Firefox address bar. Using the search bar, look for "webgl.force-enabled" and make sure the value is set to true. Then, look for "webgl.disabled" and turn the value to false.
- Step 3: relaunch Firefox for any changes to take effect.

Edge
