If you encounter the message below when launching BRAIN, it is possible that WebGL is not enabled on your browser.
What is WebGL?
WebGL is a specification for web browsers that enables 3D viewing on the web.
WebGL enables complex 3D graphics to be viewed, created and managed in a client's web browser window. It is currently implemented in most browsers, but, as this implementation is recent, this technology remains relatively unknown to the general public.
How to activate WebGL on your browser?
Chrome
- Step 1 : enter "about:settings" in the Chrome address bar. Go in "Advanced". Then scroll down to the bottom of the page, in "System". If it is not the case yet, enable the option "Use hardware acceleration".
- Step 2 : enter "about:flags" in the Chrome address bar. With the search bar, look for the option "Override software rendering list" and activate it.
- Step 3 : relaunch Chrome for any changes to take effect.

Firefox
- Step 1 : enter "about:preferences" in the Firefox address bar. Go in "General". Then scroll down to the bottom of the page, in "Performance". If it is not the case yet, enable the option "Use recommended performance settings".
- Step 2 : enter "about:config" in the Firefox address bar. With the search bar, look for "webgl.force-enabled" and turn the value on true. Then, look for "webgl.disabled" and turn the value on false.
- Step 3 : relaunch Firefox for any changes to take effect.

Edge
- Step 1 : enter "about:settings" in the Edge address bar. Go in "System". If it is not the case yet, enable the option "Use hardware acceleration".
- Step 2 : enter "about:flags" in the Edge address bar. With the search bar, look for the option "Override software rendering list" and activate it.
- Step 3 : relaunch Edge for any changes to take effect.

- Step 1 : Click on "Safari" then "Preferences". Go in "Advanced" and check the field "Show develop menu in menu bar".
- Step 2 : Open the menu "Develop". Then, in "Experimental features", click on "WebGL 2.0".
- Step 3 : relaunch Safari for any changes to take effect.
